ABOUT
After completing her studies in Literature and Art History at the University of Geneva, Catherine Duret began her career at the pioneering Geneva-based gallery Marika Malacorda. There, major figures of the Fluxus movement – George Brecht, Nam June Paik, Robert Filliou, André Thomkins,
Joseph Beuys were exhibited – as well as key artists from the Swiss scene, including John Armleder .
Over five years of curating exhibitions and participating in the Basel Art Fair, she developed a solid professional foundation and an international network. She then established herself as an independent art dealer, primarily focusing on contemporary art, and began cultivating relationships with artists such as Helmut Federle during his stay in Geneva in 1981.
Her areas of interest soon became clearly defined: Minimal Art, Conceptual Art, Arte Povera, post-war abstraction, and geometric painting.
In parallel, she also engages in transactions involving major modern and historical 20th-century works, including pieces by Alberto Giacometti, Picasso, Juan Gris, Joan Miró, Giorgio Morandi, Balthus and others.
Since the early 2000s, Catherine Duret has taken part in renowned art fairs. She has exhibited annually at Art Genève since its launch in 2012, presenting curated selections with precision and a keen eye.
She is a member of the Swiss Art Dealers Association.
