ABOUT

After studying Literature and Art History at the University of Geneva, Catherine Duret began her career in Marika Malacorda’s avant-garde gallery in Geneva. There she worked alongside major artists of the Fluxus movement – George Brecht, Nam June Paik, Robert Filliou, André Thomkins, Joseph Beuys – as well as figures from the Swiss scene, including John Armleder.

During five years of exhibitions and participation in Art Basel, she gained solid experience and an international network. She then became an independent art dealer, focusing primarily on contemporary art. She established close ties with several artists, notably Helmut Federle, who settled in Geneva in 1981.

Her areas of expertise became clearer: Minimal Art, Conceptual Art, Arte Povera, post-war abstraction, and geometric painting. In parallel, she conducted transactions in the field of 20th-century modern and historical art: Alberto Giacometti, Pablo Picasso, Juan Gris, Joan Miró, Giorgio Morandi, Balthus, and others. Since the 2000s, Catherine Duret has participated in renowned art fairs. She has been present every year at Art Genève since the fair’s inception in 2012, where she curates meticulously curated and discerning exhibitions. She is a member of the Swiss Association of Art Dealers.
